Physical Education
PE at Bitterne CE Primary School focuses on the holistic development of children, from Year R to Year 6. It encompasses their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development and well-being in addition to developing confident attitudes and a commitment to lifelong physical activity and pursuit of healthy lifestyles. Physical Education provides all children with the opportunity to succeed, whether through personal or team success.
Bitterne CE Primary School offers a high-quality physical education curriculum which inspires every pupil, irrespective of ability, to succeed and excel in physically-demanding activities and competitive sport. It should will provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.
Get Set 4 PE
We use the Get Set 4 PE scheme to deliver high-quality physical education that promotes skill development, knowledge, and a love for being active. The scheme provides a clear progression of skills and knowledge, ensuring that pupils build on their abilities year by year across a range of sports and activities. Through engaging and inclusive lessons, children develop confidence, teamwork, and a lifelong appreciation for health and fitness, supporting both their physical and emotional well-being.
