Modern Foreign Language learning begins at Key Stage Two.

At Bitterne CE Primary, we intend to deliver a language curriculum that is relevant, broad, vibrant, ambitious and will inspire, challenge and excite our pupils. It will nurture pupils to develop a genuine interest and positive curiosity about foreign languages, finding them enjoyable and stimulating whilst giving them opportunities to celebrate their love of language and achievements.

Through learning French, children learn to explore relationships between language and identity whilst developing an understanding of other cultures and the world around them with a intrinsic awareness of self, others and cultural differences. The intention is that they will develop a passion for language that will encourage them to become life-long language learners.

We use Language Angels to support our teaching and learning in French.
