Computing

At Bitterne CE Primary, we aim to offer students a comprehensive and dynamic computing curriculum that spans various platforms and introduces them to the latest technologies. We prioritize online safety in our curriculum, ensuring that students become technologically aware and proficient learners in a constantly evolving digital landscape.

We believe that a deep understanding of computing is crucial for success across all areas of the curriculum and indispensable for our students to effectively navigate their future endeavours. Our curriculum gives depth of understanding and context to learning while also allowing an experiential approach, ensuring hands-on learning while children are supported with their individual learning goals.

At Bitterne Primary, we recognize the ever-changing landscape of future careers and the transformative impact of technology. Our computing curriculum integrates skill development with essential online safety knowledge, preparing students to navigate the digital world confidently.

We focus on gradually building coding expertise and fostering digital literacy, ensuring students can discern reliable online sources. Our curriculum developed from the Lion pathways, rooted in the National Curriculum, ensures progression from EYFS to Year 6, with lesson plans incorporating vital platforms and apps for effective learning.
